Dog Transport in Abu Dhabi: How It Works
Owners searching for a transport service for dogs tend to want the same four things settled before they commit.
Carrier or harness. Small dogs travel best in a closed carrier, placed on a seat or in the footwell so the animal is not thrown about under braking. Medium and large dogs usually travel on a harness with a short lead, either on the rear bench or in the load area. Either arrangement is fine. What matters is that the dog is secured rather than loose in the cabin. If you are not sure which suits your dog, describe the breed and weight when you message us.
Whether you come along. You are welcome in the vehicle and most owners ride with their animal. A familiar person within reach keeps a dog settled and means you handle the lead at both ends. Sending a dog unaccompanied is common for vet collections and grooming pickups, but it needs a named contact at both addresses who can hand the animal over.
Seating and boot arrangements. In the GMC Yukon the third row folds flat, turning the rear into a wide, low-sided space where a big dog can lie down while the second row stays free for you. For two medium dogs we fold the second row as well.
Large versus small dogs. Vehicle choice is the part owners underestimate. A labrador, husky, saluki, or German shepherd needs floor length rather than seat width, so the answer is a large SUV with the rear folded. A shih tzu or a cat needs a stable, shaded surface for the carrier and nothing more. What Our Animal Transport Service Covers
Vet trips. Routine checkups, vaccinations, post-surgery follow-ups, or urgent visits. We drop your pet at the clinic and wait for the appointment to finish, so you do not need to arrange separate transport home. We can also collect your pet from the vet without you if that is easier. Animals travelling home after surgery are driven slowly, with the carrier kept level.
Grooming appointments. Drop your pet at the groomer, continue with your day, and we collect them when they are ready. Or stay with them throughout. The return leg can be left open if the salon cannot commit to a finish time.

Preparing Your Pet for the Journey
Secure the animal before the door opens. Clip the harness or close the carrier inside your home, not in an open car park. A dog slipping its lead in a tower basement is the most common problem on these trips, and it is entirely avoidable.
Water yes, food no. Offer water before you set off and bring a collapsible bowl for anything over half an hour. Skip the meal in the two hours before travel, because a full stomach plus motion is how most in-car sickness starts.
Heat is the real risk in the UAE. From roughly May to September, ground surfaces in an open car park will burn paw pads within seconds. So the vehicle is cooled before we arrive, we load from shaded or basement parking wherever the building allows, the door-to-door walk is kept short, and the animal is never left in the vehicle unattended. For longer summer journeys, book early morning or after sunset rather than the middle of the day.
Anxious animals. Bring a blanket or toy that smells of home. If your vet has prescribed something for travel anxiety, give it at the timing they specified and tell the driver, so nobody mistakes drowsiness for illness. Nervous animals do better with the owner alongside, so ride along if you can.
Bring the basics. Vaccination record if you are heading to a vet, groomer, or boarding facility, plus a spare lead, wipes, and a towel. Requirements vary between clinics, kennels, and emirates, so check what your destination asks for before the day.
What We Do Not Handle
Being clear about the limits saves everyone a wasted enquiry. This is ground transport inside the UAE, and that is all it is.
International pet relocation. We do not book animals onto flights, arrange export or import permits, source airline-approved crates, or deal with customs clearance and quarantine. Those belong to dedicated pet relocation companies. Once your relocator has the paperwork in place, we will drive your pet to them or to the cargo terminal.
Veterinary care, boarding, and advice on paperwork. Our drivers are not veterinary staff, so no medication, sedation, or treatment in transit - if your animal is in a critical condition, call your clinic first and ask whether they run an ambulance service. We also do not board, walk, or mind animals between appointments. And because rules on animals in vehicles, microchipping and travel documents differ by emirate and change over time, check current requirements with your vet, your airline, or the relevant local authority rather than with your driver.
