RAK is the standard shorthand for Ras Al Khaimah, the northernmost emirate, and the taxi service there is run by the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority, RAKTA. How to Book a RAK Taxi

There are three practical routes to a taxi in Ras Al Khaimah, and which one works best depends on where you are standing.

1. Call 800 1700. Give your pickup point, your destination, and how many passengers. For resort pickups, name the hotel rather than the road, since the coastal addresses north of RAK city are hard to describe by phone.
2. Use Sayr, RAKTA's official booking app for iOS and Android. Dropping a pin removes the address problem entirely, which is the main reason to prefer it out of town.
3. Hail one. RAK taxis are readily flagged in RAK city, at Al Nakheel and Al Dhait, and at the malls. Away from the built-up areas, hailing is unreliable.

RAK Taxi Fares

RAKTA publishes its tariff, so the meter is predictable. The flag fall is AED 4.00 during the day between 6am and 10pm and AED 5.00 at night between 10pm and 6am. The running rate is roughly AED 1.83 to AED 1.88 per kilometre, with a service fee of AED 2.00 per trip and a minimum charge of AED 6.00.

Shared taxi routes are priced flat rather than metered, running between roughly AED 5 and AED 25 on the corridors linking Nakheel, Masafi, the Friday Market and RAK Airport. Ras Al Khaimah Airport Taxi

Ras Al Khaimah International Airport (RKT) sits south of RAK city and has a taxi rank outside arrivals, so you do not need to call ahead for a car after landing. RAKTA also runs the airport as a stop on its shared taxi network, with set fares of roughly AED 10 to AED 20 depending on your destination, which is the cheapest way into town if you are travelling light.

The thing to plan for at RKT is timing. The airport handles a modest number of daily flights, arriving in clusters, so the rank can be busy for twenty minutes and then empty. A late arrival or a flight that lands off-schedule can leave you waiting. Lost Property and Complaints in RAK

Report a lost item or a complaint to the RAKTA call centre on 800 1700, or by email to info@rakta.gov.ae. The authority is based at Al Dhait South in Ras Al Khaimah. Administrative office hours are short, Monday to Thursday 7:30am to 3:30pm and Friday 7:30am to noon, but the taxi call centre itself runs around the clock. Quote the plate number, the date and time, and both ends of the journey. Because the fleet carries meters and cameras, a trip that can be pinned to a time and route is much easier for RAKTA to identify.

Dubai to RAK: Distance and Journey Time

The drive from Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah is approximately 115 km, taking 1 to 1.5 hours in normal conditions. The main routes are the E311 (Emirates Road) heading north, or the E11 (Sheikh Zayed Road) via Sharjah and Ajman. The E311 is typically faster outside peak hours.

On weekends, particularly Friday mornings, traffic builds on the northern routes as residents head to Jebel Jais, Al Hamra Village, and RAK's beach resorts. If you are driving for a morning activity, allow extra time or travel before 9am.
