Route: Dubai to Kuwait Overland
There is no direct Dubai to Kuwait border. The two countries are separated by Saudi Arabia, so the overland journey is really a transit across the Kingdom with a border at each end. From Dubai the route runs west along the E11 past Abu Dhabi to the UAE-Saudi border at Al Ghuwaifat (Al Batha on the Saudi side), then northwest through the Eastern Province via Dammam, out of Saudi Arabia at Al Khafji, and into Kuwait at Al Nuwaiseeb before the final stretch to Kuwait City.

The Two Border Crossings
The single biggest difference between this trip and a short intercity run is that you clear two international borders and transit a third country in between. The sequence:
- Exit UAE at Al Ghuwaifat - passports stamped out, vehicle checked
- Enter Saudi Arabia at Al Batha - each passenger presents a valid Saudi e-visa or transit visa; non-GCC nationals cannot cross without one
- Drive across Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province (the longest single leg of the journey)
- Exit Saudi Arabia at Al Khafji - a toll and mandatory third-party vehicle insurance apply on the Saudi side
- Enter Kuwait at Al Nuwaiseeb - present your Kuwait e-visa or, if eligible, obtain a visa on arrival; pedestrian crossing is not permitted, so you stay in the vehicle
Crossing times are unpredictable. Each border can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours depending on queues, day of the week, and document checks. Build in slack and treat any single-day estimate with caution. Verify current border and visa status at booking, as rules and fees change.

Why Not Fly Dubai-Kuwait?
Kuwait is served by direct flights from DXB, and the hop is about 2 hours in the air. For a solo traveller with a normal schedule, flying is faster and cheaper than a 16-18 hour multi-border drive, and we will say so honestly. A car with driver from Dubai to Kuwait earns its place only in specific situations:
- Travelling as a group of 4 or more, where one vehicle beats several air tickets plus transfers at both ends
- Moving equipment, samples, or cargo that cannot be checked onto a flight
- A genuine fear of flying, or a medical reason to stay on the ground
- A multi-stop itinerary through Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province where you want to stop en route
- Wanting full door-to-door flexibility on timing rather than fixed flight schedules
