The Route
Sharjah to Abu Dhabi covers approximately 150 km via the E311 (Emirates Road) south to connect with the E11 (Sheikh Zayed Road) into Abu Dhabi. Normal journey time is 1.5 to 2 hours. The route passes through Dubai's southern corridor, which can add traffic during peak commute hours.
Why There is No Direct Taxi
Sharjah taxis are primarily licensed for Sharjah-Dubai routes. Getting a metered taxi from Sharjah all the way to Abu Dhabi requires finding a driver willing to negotiate a private intercity rate. App-based rides from Sharjah often decline long Abu Dhabi bookings during peak hours. For any journey where timing matters - business meetings, Abu Dhabi airport flights - a pre-booked private transfer is the only reliable option.
