School Run Driver Requirements
For any school run driver arrangement in Dubai, regardless of part-time or full-time:
- Dubai Police PCC - Personal Character Certificate. Valid only 3 months from the date of issue. Must be renewed every 3 months throughout the arrangement. Non-negotiable for school gate access.
- Valid UAE driving licence - The driver must hold a current UAE licence with the appropriate class.
- School authorisation letter - Most schools require a written authorisation on file with a photo ID for any non-family driver to collect a child. Provide at the start of each term.
- Car seat compliance - Children under 4 years or under 25 kg must be in an appropriate child safety seat under UAE law (Federal Traffic Law).
Shared Driver Between Households
Two or three families in the same villa community sharing a part-time driver is a cost-efficient model. Common in Arabian Ranches, Jumeirah, Mirdif, and Dubai Hills Estate where JESS, Ranches Primary, and other schools serve large residential communities. The driver serves each household sequentially within the morning window:
- Family A: 7:00am pickup, school 1 drop-off at 7:30am
- Family B: 7:45am pickup, school 2 drop-off at 8:15am
- Cost shared: each family pays approximately 50-60% of a solo arrangement
